SMCLA is hosting a panel with the likes of Laura Knapp of Social Spotlight Media; John Tabis of ShoeDazzle; and Nicole DeRuiter of Fresh & Easy! My friend and mentor Serena Ehrlich is moderating. You may know her as the current Marketing Director of Mogreet. I’ll also take “The tallest social media woman I know” as an answer.

It’s not too late to RSVP and grab your ticket for Monday night’s panel – “Can I Tweet That?” Social Media in Regulated Industries.

I’m moderating a fantastic panel – Julie MacMedan (VP of Investor Relations, Demand Media); Julie Linn (VP of Compliance, Green Dot); Erik Deutsch (Principal, Excel PR); Dustin Luther (Head of Social Media, Dun & Bradstreet Credibility Corp.), and Serena Ehrlich (Director of Marketing, Mogreet). These guys are experts in working through the rules and regs of a regulated industry and still moving social media forward within public companies.

If you’re interested in social media in PUBLIC companies, you should attend! We’re adding that extra layer that all regulated companies have to deal with. Learn about this side of things.

RSVP to SMCLA’s Social TV Panel – 5.23.12

SMCLA (Social Media Club LA) is having their May event on Wednesday evening, May 23 at the Edmunds.com headquarters in Santa Monica. It’s all about Social TV and its evolution – so what are you waiting for? RSVP now and tell them I sent ya! Better still, tell ME and I’ll be on the lookout for you!

What is Social TV? It’s the mash-up of tv watching and the chatter going on on social channels. Did you vote for a favorite contestant on American Idol? Do you check in on GetGlue? Do you live-blog or live-tweet during sporting events? Do you watch programming on Blip.tv or Yap.tv? Have you downloaded Conan O’Brien’s app (Go Team CoCo!)? That’s part of it. On the back-end where the nerds sit (me… you), social tv is also something that companies look at to increase viewership, engagement, and quite frankly, prove that there is interest in a particular show. Job Description

  • Day-to-day coordination and monitoring of online conversations within the social web about clients, their brand, products, and competition while reporting key insights and recommendations
  • Track and report analytics for social media clients
  • Conduct market research and competitive audits
  • Conduct audience segmentation and creation of personas/profiles
  • Research and coordinate blogger/online media outreach
  • Implement initiatives in social networking, web communities and other social media marketing and web technology
  • Research interactive marketing and emerging media trends and pull specific, relevant stats and insights in support of strategic business cases
  • Successfully team with agency account teams on social media marketing projects integrated with traditional PR plans
  • Working with Social Media Community Manager to understand clients’ business goals, requirements, and current marketing plans

Qualifications

  • Strong understanding of social networking and social media marketing  i.e., blogs, social networks, microblogging, podcasts/Web TV, wikis/collaborative software
  • Understanding of and/or experience in Public Relations including coordination and implementation of PR and marketing tactics
  • Skilled in Microsoft Office and Macintosh applications
  • Strong data research and analysis capabilities
  • Detail-oriented with strong organization and time management skills
  • Experience in serving client needs and providing deliverables in a timely fashion
  • 1-2 years of experience in Interactive/Online marketing
  • 1 year of experience in client management
  • Ability to maintain own work flow and meet deadlines
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment
